i only had a sort of passing interest in this (though i, like everyone else, am into alan moore and porn) until i saw the art today. it's awesome. amazon has the book as coming out last week, those bastards.
This particular image (and the others from the intervew; click the picture) are WAAAYYY better than the other samples I've seen from the series. I never got the two Kitchen Sink published issues, so I have no idea what to expect.
i hadn't even heard of this book until they announced the collected edition. he's basically giving the same interview promoting it everywhere, but the art they have up is great.
The first couple of installments were published many years ago, in short print runs (owing more to the nature of the publisher than any intent to create artificial scarcity). They are still kicking around on Amazon an eBay from time to time.
It *is* great. Not From Hell, but it is a better comic than Voice Of The Fire is a novel, if that makes sense. Not really what I was expecting, but wonderful nonetheless. And really nice looking. Gebbie mixes up the art styles quite a bit, even when she's not apeing other artists for the book-within-the-book. She does Scheile and Beardsley very well.
