These courses are posted in the iTunes music store but they are free for anyone to download. I understand what you're saying but I have a hard time interpreting this as an example of it.
I'm still not sure how you're turning free content into an ominous omen. I doubt if many people who could get into/pay for Berkeley are not already familiar with iTunes or Apple products. To my mind this sort of thing (schools like Berkeley and MIT making their course materials available for free) can only be a good thing.
