the flying roaches are quite an issue in the south. they got into our house more often than I cared for when I was a little girl living in Metairie & baton rouge. now they come into our house every once in a while. Maybe because of the magnolia tree in our yard. Of course, magnolia trees hold lots of moisture (which must appeal to roaches) and are more common in the south than they are here. figures we'd end up with one in our yard.
I'm the same way about not killing things... almost to my own detriment.

I don't like to either. However, my cats suffer no such compunction.
This roach was lighter in color than I'm used to seeing, and almost translucent. It could move very quickly when it wanted to.
