do you know how close the corellations are between the movie Valis in the book and the actual movie The Man Who Fell to Earth with David Bowie in it? Also, do you know if Bowie and PKD interacted like their counterparts seem to in the book? I thought at first the mysterious rock and roll guy was Eric Clapton, though, because of his name, Eric Lampton...
I'm not sure I ever read about a connection between those two, but now that you mention it that is a pretty interesting idea. Though personally from what I know of both men, I would think Bowie's fatalistic streak in the mid '70s might have put PKD off somewhat. On the other hand, who knows.
Have you read Radio Free Albemuth? It's sort of a counterpart to the VALIS trilogy, and was actually an early draft of VALIS, though it is completely different and was not published until 1985, three years after PKD died.
