I totally missed this because I am a loser-spaz, but according to A-S.net, stanfordwank's secret lover, Flakes is going to be at South by South West Film Festivial in Austin, Texas. You can register to attend here. Note, Austin, TX is a damn good place to be if you're a Stanford film. Live Free or Die won the jury award at SXSW in 2006, and Runaway won ( Read more... )

It's definitely not at the Adelaide Film Festival! I've checked. Fuckers haha.

Did you know that Rick was screened at the Melbourne International Film Festival? I think that's a bit of awesome.

Rick was one of the rare films that went to a lot of international film festivals.. It went to a Russian Film Festival, as well.. It was really odd-ball and rather.. Not American and since Flakes was filmed in New Orleans and The Cake Eaters was filked in the New York area.. I don't know if they'll focus on that.. But I know Tribecca and Wood stock do have catagories for films that were filmed in the area.. And I don't know how far they're willing to travel. Depends on the production company, I suppose. I know the guy who wrote the screenplay for Rick was the guy who does the Lemony Snicket books, so he's independently wealthy so I don't know if that had anything to do with why that film went so far around the world.. Or if it was because it was based on Rigoletto. But I don't have very high hopes for either of these films leaving American or Canadian film festivals. And I say Canadian on the off chance it ends up somewhere in Toronto..

Hah, Rick is definitely a bit of an "odd" film xD! I liked it though.

But yeah, I see what you're saying. I doubt "Flakes" and "The Cake Eaters" would come to our film festivals. We actually have heaps of Australian film-makers submitting their films, so... they get first preference I suppose.

But oh well. Hopefully I'll get to see them someday.
