Reading Assignment

Aug 19, 2005 16:18

This is for people who have not yet received their housing/reading assignment packets. Tell me if you all already know this stuff, and I'll delete it.

I'm all set to room in Alondra (East FloMo), but I heard on the Yahoo group that this reading assignment is for all freshmen. Let me know if you guys hear differently.

Yay, I've already read one of them! I picked Journeys as my #1 IHUM which is taught by Tobias Wolff, so I thought I'd read one of his books. I saw Old School at Borders on the "features of the month" shelf, lol :)

Old School looks like a great read. I just picked it up at B&N, then gleefully came home to show my dad where it reads: "Tobias Wolff lives in Northern California and teaches at Stanford University."

As for the SLE reading list... Holy. Shiitake. Mushrooms. Have fun with that, guys.

Wow. That book was AMAZINGLY good. Tomorrow morning I'm going to tackle my AP lit teacher during her planning period and force her to read it.

I'm sure I'll reread it again before orientation, but for now I have to figure out which to read next...

You didn't get the mailing? That's terrible! Well, I'm glad you at least know. If you're pressed for time, I recommend M Butterfly over the others; it's a very fast read (100 pages including afterword), as many plays are, and it's sufficiently mind-bending to hold to most jaded reader's interest.

Good luck!

Just ignore all the strange wording and questionable grammar there. It's really hot outside.
