I think I've found my dream grad school. I was looking at the web site, and they actually have a b-cast jour specialization. sigh* University of Maryland (College Park) Phillip Merrill College of Journalism. i know i'll either not be able to get in or not be able to afford it. but a girl can dream

I don't know about professional schools, but most grad schools fund their grad students... Have you looked into that?

At least in my field, and school won't accept a student unless they can afford to give them assistance. The two schools that turned me down, did so on the pretenses that there wasn't enough money to go around, not that I wasn't qualified, etc. Heh...and one even came back to me about a month after I'd signed on with OU to offer me an RA, as someone else must've turned them down. So, yeah...look into programs that pay. Though, like Hannah said, with something that doesn't involve research, I'm not entirely sure if the same structure exists for journalism. I have a friend over in England right now at the Univ of Leeds studying journalism at the grad level.

we do fellowships, where we work for them (writing about university news) for exchange of tuition and stuff like that. i'm more trying to concentrate on finding an internship for the summer, but the grad school books happen to be right next to them.
