Decade in Review, Part 1

Jan 01, 2010 23:28

These are days when netizens everywhere like to take a long look into the rear view mirror their retrospectacles and summarize the past ten years. This is a practice I greatly appreciate, and I am going to do the same, starting with this post. But before I begin there is a general comment I want to make:

The retrospector feels: surprised )

retrospective, 2000, surprise, growth, life, decade, introspection

I got involved in the fandom around 2000 time as well. At least activly. I had been on the sidelines for a few years before.

Interesting-I thought most furries would dive right into the community once they found out about their online peers. May I ask why you chose to do otherwise?

Myself, I remained on the sidelines looking at art and reading blogs for a really long time after I learned about the fandom, and it wasn't until 2007 I got a LiveJournal of my own and met furries in real life for the first time. As for sustained, active involvement in the fandom, I'd say that started less than a year ago for me.

ay I ask why you chose to do otherwise?

Partly nerves; partly the fact that I only had net access at college, not at home. When I got it home I pretty much introduced myself to the Londonfurs, and attended my first meet in 2000.
