My recent experiments with acorns have resulted in a couple of things. First, I finally found a good balance between grain size and filter media for the leaching process. Excellent info to have - thank you!

The acorns I've got for the most part are still in the "soft nut" category (not that this makes them EASIER to mill, just to give you an idea of what I'm working with). I'll definitely be starting slow and small, certainly, until I know exactly what works best/easiest.

Frankly, most of my baking is using $1/10 lb grocery store cheap stuff, as well ;)

You might also want to check out Northern Brewer. They are a home brew supply shop and there are folks that want to mill their own grain for brewing. They are usually very good on pricing (check out their costs for honey and vanilla beans if you need an example).
