Okay, some kind of cool stuff

First, I finished the WIP Monday night. Which is nice. It's long (97k) and the first half needs to be ripped the shreds, but overall...well, overall it's okay. But there are a few scenes and stuff in it that I'm extremely pleased with. So that's a start.

And speaking of my work, this is really cool. Personal Demons is a July subfeature on the B&N.Read more... )

Sign up. It's fun when the authors are involved.

They used to invite the author and get us to agree to hang out for questions, so I don't see any reason why that shouldn't still be the case--minus the invite I guess.

I guess I don't deserve the invite, sigh.

Nope. They must not be doing invites. You should actually feel special. I didn't see an appearance by Stephanie Meyer either.

First off, I loved your book! I read it in the midst of a heat wave in Palm Springs (on vacation). Which says a lot, considering I just wanted to be a puddle. I can not wait for the follow up novel.

Second up - Thanks for the clicky. I am going to go hunt down some fellow fans and chat up your book.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that, I'm so glad you liked it!

The second book will be out in January, so come December I'll be doing excerpts and stuff here. :-)

You know, I have that same prohibition against killing kids, and I'm not a parent. I don't write, and I don't like to read children being hurt on purpose, either. I know, anyone who would hurt/torture/kill children is truly evil and the reader will LOVE it when they get theirs in the end. But I have always be very against it. Some things just have to be scared, I guess.

Having said that, I really enjoyed the Harry Potter books.

See, and that's the other thing that bugs me so much about kids being killed in books. It's lazy. It's such an easy way to get the reader to hate the bad guy and cheer for the hero and get their emotions high; it's a shortcut to really creating a compelling story and characters. For a while it seemed like every suspense heroine had lost a child and it was like I could hear the writer(s) thinking, "Okay, hmm. How do I create sympathy for this character right off the bat? Oh, I know! I'll give her a kid who died!"

It just makes it feel like rather than being told a good story, I'm just being manipulated. And I don't like that at all. So aside from all other considerations, there's that. :-)

OMG get your butt over to the B&N boards. You are a subfeature and they don't always invite subfeatures..But someone suggested you(hmm who could that be???) and so the mod was like um yeah..ok..I expect to see you there soon missy! ;-) The mod paul was pretty excited about your book when that mysterious starnger brought it up to him..
