Perhaps this is a stupid question...

Okay, well, no "perhaps" about it, but I really am confused.

Is this a three-day weekend in the States? I know it isn't the 4th until Friday, but I've seen a bunch of people lately talking about the long weekend as if it's happening now. They do mean next weekend, right? Or am I dumb? (Don't answer that.)

i am stupid, totally losing touch with reality, sheesh im stupid, stupid questions

See, I couldn't figure out why everyone was talking about it like it was this weekend, and I know sometimes the official bank holiday for the 4th isn't on the 4th and I wondered if they'd done something odd for some reason. I knew it was a stupid wuestion but I wanted to check anyway. Thanks!

Lol, no, I used to work in a bank. Some national holidays in the States--all of them except Xmas and Thanksgiving, actually--almost everything is still open except banks. If the 4th falls on a Saturday, for example, a lot of companies will still be open on the 3rd. Only the banks won't be.

Next weekend. But I took all week off. Yeah, a true patriot takes vacation on the fourth. Works for me.

Sorry. I slopped code all over the place. I was trying to say: Very cool on THIS.
