It's that Big Read thing. I'm bored.

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they’ve printed. Well let’s see.
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you love.

reading, i am stupid, i am a loser, teh nefarious interwebs, of interest to me, me me me, books

Okay, Watership Down is FAB! The movie really barely touches on this book. You HAVE to pick this up.

Jane Eyre! GET IT NOW!

Great Expectations -- you didn't have it underlined. Please add this to your list. Wonderful book, once you get comfortable with Dickens' wordy style. OMG, one of my favorite books. Made me cry!

Germinal is also very good. You can't tell from the title, but it's about 19th century miners. NIce period piece about the lower classes. One of those 'had to read' during my college days, but I'm glad I did.

I do have Jane Eyre, upstairs on my shelf! I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Sorry, I'll give Great... and Germinal a try, but Watership Down just ain't gonna happen, I don't think. It seriously scarred me for life.

Huzzah, I'm not the least literate person on livejournal!

That's probably not a surprise though.

Good lord, Iz a dolt! I've only read 6 of these. I spent my formative years learning the english language thanks to the power of Marvel Comics. Does several hundred issues of the X-Men count?

If it doesn't, it sure should! Especially the Dark Phoenix saga.

You know, that's weird. It just occurred to me that of all the comic stuff I've read--the hubs is a HUGE comics guy--I've read way more DC than Marvel. I honestly can't think of more than a couple of Marvel titles I've read, and that's weird because it's not that I don't like them. I just gravitate more towards the Vertigo stuff, really, and I have an embarrassingly large and obsessive crush on Batman.

There is nothing embarrassing about having an obsessive crush on Batman. Especially when he looked like Christian Bale. All that man-angst... *drool*

Similar thing over here. Though I enjoyed the Teen Titans and the comical Justics League from the late 80's I poured over the X titles, Spidey, and Daredevil. And BTW - Bats is the man! Who could fault you for that?
