I think about stuff

Okay, lots of stuff to cover and get through and all of that.

First, the other day I cam across this cool blog/site called Best Fantasy Books.com. Another site had a link to this post about ARCs and reviews that I thought was really interesting.

Most of my thoughts on the subject are covered in my comment, which is the fifth comment down:

I ( Read more... )

totally losing touch with reality, publishing, of interest to me, wasting time, moral outrage, craziness, ghost bound, violence, childishness, writing thoughts, blah!, grumpyass, agents, nobody said life is fair, the downside books, rodents of unusual size, rantypants, insensitivity

Here are some suggestions, some of which probably suck, but maybe they'll get the creative juices flowing:

Ghost of a Chance
Give Up the Ghost (which could be really appropriate since it means "To die, or in the case of inanimate objects, to cease working."
Going Ghost-al (Ha! Sorry, couldn't resist.)
Ghostly Whispers
Ghost Story
Ghostly Fury
Pale as a Ghost
Snow Ghost
Death by Ghost
Ghostly Spirits
Ghostly Revenants
Revenant of a Ghost
Ghost Train
Ghosts of the Father/Mother
Ghost Festival
Day of the Ghosts
Book of Ghosts
Ghostly Tombs
Shades of Ghosts
Shades of the Ghost
Shades of a Ghost
Ghostdancer
Ghosthunter
Ghostslayer
Putting on the Ghost

ETA:
Ghosttown
Ghostlands
Ghost Rider (oh crap, that one's already taken! ;) )

Okay.../if I think of any more I'll throw them your way. Hopefully at least one or two of these works!

Hey, thanks!

Funnily enough, FESTIVAL OF GHOSTS is the title I have all ready for the fifth book (if I get to write one.)

Some of those are really, really cool titles!

No problem! I actually like brainstorming titles, especially for other writers. *grin*

Ooh, I really like that title.

Thank you! I had fun coming up with these. Ghost/s is a really cool word to have in titles.

I've had very little interaction with agents, so I watch this whole mess with an outsider's perspective. I'm seeing yet another example of how the anonymity of the internet makes it easy to go from zero to nuts in about five seconds.

As for ARCs...I'm not a reviewer, but just a random internet fanboy who gets the occasional sneak peek. I try to post something, at least a "I had a preview of 'Demon Porn' from Stacia Quinn coming out August 14 and you should to take a look!" Usually I can say something positive, but I figure I owe the author at least a mention if I didn't care for it. I'm completely on board with your point about reviewers, though--that's wholly separate from my role. There are certain responsibilities, or perhaps journalistic ethics, one should be bringing into play when one wants to be a "Reviewer."

Absolutely. Being a "Reviewer," whether it's on a blog or website or for the NYT, has certain ethics/responsibilities, or at least it should. And yes, it is different when you call yourself a reviewer, from when you simply occasionally get some ARCs or whatever. But either way, unless the deal is "I'm offering ARCs to anyone who will review," you don't owe them anything.
