Hey, if you could get it to Pittsburgh somehow, I've rehomed several of my friend's turtles!

I'd really appreciate that! I think I could get it there, but I don't know what kind of set-up it's currently in. Let me talk with my dad to see what's going on, and hopefully you can help!

Look for exotic or reptile rescues perhaps?

In WV? It's called "take it to a lake."

Along those lines, though -- check the phone book or something and see if there are any "exotic pet stores"... we have one here that sometimes accepts unwanted pets.

I like to go in there just to visit (they have coatimundis!) and the guy is really nice... a woman came in while I was there, once, explaining that she found a FERRET running free around her yard... because someone had "set it free". (I think the lady ended up keeping it herself, though.)

I just left voice mail for the friend i mentioned, too... I'll let you know if she's interested! She has a house, so space isn't too much of an issue, but I'm not sure if money might be. Plus she'd have to ask her boyfriend (the house belongs to both of them).

We have a Petco...that's it. Around here, you barn animals or a dog/cat. I went to two vets here when my lizard was sick and one outright said "i have no idea what kind of animal that is," and one pretended to know, and said mouthrot was just fine. Yeah. I took Clydey to Pittsburgh, and he's fine NOW, but it was touch-and-go for a while.

Let me know what your friend says!

Do you guys have any turtle rescues in your area? I used to volunteer at one in Virginia and we helped re-home turtles into good homes. We even had a free training class for new pet owners to teach them about turtle care, proper housing, when to take it to a vet, etc.

No. :(

I need to check back with my dad to see what's going on...I may check Pittsburgh, as that's the nearest area. Honestly. Driving 2 hours for a turtle?

If you find it a good home it'll be all worth it. :) If it does come to driving to Pittsburgh and you find it a good home then you can feel good you did such a kind act.
