Google+?

So, today I saw people going crazy about Google +.  It was a bit insane.  People were going nuts to try to get invites to try this nwe social medium.  I actually enjoy Facebook and what it does.  It is how I keep in touch with a lot of people, and it seems like less people are blogging now then they used too.  I could be wrong, but I don't see ( Read more... )

I have always hated Facebook's privacy issues. Not just Zuckerburg's apparent belief that all of our information wants to be free, but the fact that tweaking and then using your privacy settings was ludicrously awkward. Google's Circles (which I find to be very similar to LJ's security settings) are largely intuitive, highly extensible (there are already a bunch of tips out there about ways to use Circles to do nifty things like bookmark posts), and very easy to use. That, by itself, is a win over Facebook for me.

There are a few other wins over at G+, mainly in the UI and lack of stupid. But, I'm going to be a pessimist and assume that ads, games, and the stupid will be encroaching eventually.

IMHO, if you like Facebook, Google+ has nothing amazing to offer you. If, like many of us, you don't like Facebook, Google+ is an excellent alternative.

On the blogging front, you may just not be following the right blogs. Check out the RPG Blog Alliance for a new gaming blog community. There are lots of quality people over there. My ( ... )

Who hasn't hated FB's privacy issues? :) Especially since they change them and don't even tell you about it. I like G+ so far though. You can add me (or anyone else if they want), my name is stacey chancellor.

I will check out the blog, and probably start a new one over there. No one seems to do much on LJ anymore.
