Oh god Robin. She's just so /damaged/. She breaks my heart.

That was astonishing. All the background detail was so entirely believable. I'm just continuing to be amazed.

Glad you liked the background detail and that it rang true to you!! (Thanks to you and your timeline and andrea198's keen eye, Robin is now brave at the age of FOURTEEN, not thirteen, so thanks for being so awesome and making that timeline...holy crap ridiculously amazing.)

I was quite pleased to discover a new chapter to this story today and I felt truly privileged to wade through the struggles and distortions and damage of Robin's mind.

And the little counselor in me is still truly impressed by your research and your understanding of Robin's trauma. It comes through how much you care about sharing this story with the reader. And I love that about you :)

Hey thanks! Had to explain how she ended up as Robin, all fierce and independent, right? It's a tricky subject, so I do always want to make sure it rings as true as I can get it, and it means a lot to me that you see that in the finished product. Thank you so much for the comment, as always!!

I've been reading this but never commented, because I'm no good at reviewing. I'm still no good, but here goes.

Your prose is absolutely gorgeous. You have a real talent for using words, pauses, and repetition to create effective pacing. The intercutting of ironically used children's rhymes is extremely well-done. I'm a sucker for ironic children's rhymes, but it's frequently done badly. Not so in this case.

I love how you've taken the little bits of canon this rather lighthearted show has given us and created an extremely dark, detailed, and believable history for Robin. I'm always wary of abuse fics, because it's so easy to get wrong, so easy to treat too melodramatically or not dramatically enough. I tend have my cursor trained on the back button, ready to click at the first thing that makes me cringe from second-hand embarrassment or cheesiness.

Through nine parts I haven't cringed once, so well done!

Uh...I think you are GREAT at reviewing. I could be biased, but, you know...

Thank you so much for this, I can't tell you how aware I am of the pitfalls of this fic and how it's SO easy for it to go badly, so I'm thrilled to know that you think I've used the children's rhymes well and that the abuse hasn't made you cringe yet. It's a total balancing act with this topic, and it is actually really hard to figure out how to do it justice, so I'm crossing my fingers that the remaining chapters won't make you hit that back button. ;-)

I love your description, of the city being a place for Robin to hide in the crowd. It's perfect.
So great to get these insights into her thoughts. It all flows perfectly, and I was glad to see a new chapter before bed
And though I didn't comment on the last chapter, Barney got his hug and it made me so happy! Can't wait to read more, it's all amazing.
