yeah for some reason I didn't want to write Barney POV, so this seemed like the best option. Gotta love Lily ;-)

Oh I love you. I know I said it like three days ago but it has to be said again.

I have an exam in exactly ten hours twenty minutes and this is quite the pick me up. You're really getting into writing these characters, everything feels natural and the dialogue is razor sharp.

“WHY WOULD YOU DO…” it drops down to a whisper “what you did” she mutters, looking around in case people are eavesdropping, “IN THE BATHROOM OF MACLAREN’S? Trashy much?” she accuses.
Your Lily is awesome, and in character and really ballsy :)

She thinks Robin and Barney are more alike than anybody has ever really taken the time to notice.
EXACTLY.

He chuckles a few times, self-deprecating and adorable and he scrubs at his face with his hands like he’s exhausted from the battle he’s been fighting with Robin and with himself and these are the moments Lily really does like him. A lot.
I love this part so freaking much.

“Ok,” he exhales. “Cojones, Stinson. Grow some cojones.” And he turns and takes the front steps two at a time. Gosh I am ridiculously

haha THANKS! I'm glad it sounds like them, because lord knows how hard it is to capture that. But they're so much fun, these kids! Also glad I could pick you up before your exam. I'm sure you nailed it.

Love it love it love it!!! It makes so much sense to have Lily take control here and hold up a mirror to the both of them and make them really see what's going on.

“She does not want a relationship,” he states firmly.
Lily holds her arms out, spreading them wide.
“Neither do you,” she reminds him.

PERFECT. This is what they both need to understand that neither is trying to demand anything the other isn't prepared to give. Great head-bashing move without literal head bashing :)

Love, love, love it. You know, this part really sealed this story's compeltely and utterly awesome status for me. Everything about it was just so perfect, and you even let us see some of Barney's perspective

I hope the show delivers too! I'm so excited for Monday it's kind of sad, actually. But in the meantime glad you liked this! I love the idea of Lily seeing the Marshall/Lily factor in Barney/Robin, you know? cause they're different but kind of the same.

(I have been religiously following Best Imitation, btdub, and it is AMAZING. I can't even deal with the Barney portrait you're painting, so realistic and heart-breaking. well played, my friend. I am anxiously awaiting an update!)

I am trying not to get *too* excited for Monday, at least not for specific things to happen. But c'mon, the one thing we all know has to happen is eating away at me. I don't read spoilers so I'm just a blank slate... but ack, what the HELL are we going to do all summer??

Oh, and I'm glad you're enjoying Best Imitation so much. I'm all about the character study, so I'm glad you think it's on point. I'm just about to start the next chapter now...
