I'm so glad you decided to finish this. I just recently re-read this story (and "The Trouble With Barney") and I really loved it. I also like how you didn't wrap it up neatly - Charlie is still out there, and even though Barney's threats may have him thinking twice about getting near Robin again, Robin will still have to deal with the fact that her abuser is still out there. And I think that's pretty realistic.

Also, I love how this is such a serious story, but Robin and Barney both still feel very in-character. And (since I just re-read it, too) I love the contrast of this story to "The Trouble With Barney", which was also very in-character. I really enjoy all your stories and I think it's great that you're able to write two such different stories and yet still have everyone in-character.

This story is just so freaking awesome. I honestly don't know what else to say. You've written this whole story so well, and I love how you kept the end kind of ambiguous with Jack returning. But then we get a glimpse of Robin and Barney together, and it just makes me so happy, especially after what they went through. It's absolutely brilliant!

Wow, I think this is the darkest fic of HIMYM I've read, well, I haven't read that many as I just started around 10 days ago. I got the idea that most fanfics are light-hearted like the show but you are dare to be different. I salute you. They're pretty much in characters and both of them have a lot of pain growing up. If only the canon can write them like this. Perhaps you should send your story to them. Oh, I'm still worried about Jack but as others said it's realistic.

So I'm incredibly late to the game with my review of this obviously because it's been ages since you posted this, but I just wanted to say that this story is seriously incredible. I've read pretty much all the Barney/Robin fics out there, and this is by far my favorite. I just finished reading it for the third time. I'm sure a large part of it is my angst addiction and my love and passion for all things Robin backstory related, but really, it's just great writing. So I just wanted to let you know that it's brilliant and that I love everything about it.

I'm incredibly late responding but thank you so much for reading and commenting even so long after this story was posted! It's the greatest joy to know that my stories are still being read and that people are getting something out of them. I have an angst addiction too - so I totally understand. Thanks again and keep the angst-loving alive!!
