We has it. And have had it, in previous parts, for that matter.
This is, well, not good. (Not this kind, anyway.) And I need to woman-up and realise that this meme did get bigger than I was expecting, and thus might indeed get wank. And so I probably need to talk about it, right?
So I'm going to outline a few things to keep in mind, in an attempt to preempt this stuff.
♥ This is not a discussion community. Nor this this guideline one of those 'srs in my fandom?! STOP HARSHING MY SQUEE' proclamations of idiocy. (Really, I promise. I hate those.) If you see something factually wrong in a prompt, feel free to quietly (and politely) correct or offer info, but if the other person wants to argue about the validity? Either take it somewhere else and have fun debating (no sarcasm, I like debating!) or just... walk away. You want to discuss OOC/IC? Again: debate elsewhere.
And again: it's not a 'squee harshing' thing, it's a 'this is a community that isn't for that' thing. Plus, limited space, guys!
♥ If you see a potentially offensive prompt (and that's a wide range, not just racism or homo/biphobia; transphobia, sexism, ableism... etc. Just bear in mind that *characters* insulting others via use of 'retarded' or 'gay' is not the same as the author being prejudiced, OK?) then please please PLEASE PM me. Don't tell them about it. Don't try and show them 'the light'. Just tell me, and I'll review it, and I'll deal with it. I might leave it up and just add a note asking them to not do it again, or if it's very offensive, I'll just yank it off.
♥ There is no such thing as a fic 'that isn't really what a kink meme is for' when it comes to format. If you want a fic that requires 50+ chapters, you can ask for it. Bear in mind that you can't complain if noone takes you up on it, but go ahead and ask. (As someone who read a 40k+ fic posted on a kink meme once, it can happen.) So guys, stop telling me/them that someone's posted a prompt that'll 'be too long' for the meme.
♥ Please remember that what you did and what you meant/are = different things. In fact, this guy puts it better than me. Which isn't to say that this post was triggered by any racism- we've been vastly free of that thank god, unlike some of the fandom- but replace the word 'racist' with, say, 'sexist' or anything else. And please keep that in mind about prompts you may find offensive.
Also, check his other videos out, that guy's blog is epic win. ...Ahem. Moving on!
