Aww, that was wonderful, you guys. Angst with a happy ending, my favorite kind. And I love what you did with Chekov, I honestly wouldn't have come up with that for him myself but it makes a whole lot of sense. And makes it fun to read.

I really, really like your McCoy voice here and how he feels better being a surgeon in a hellhole than essentially a GP in Georgia. It makes sense and made me realize that's probably why TOS McCoy, at least, joined Starfleet despite his hatred of transporters and flying.
