I have never been in one of these and was kind of alarmed at all the people saying that it could get nasty. I mean ultimately they are fictional characters and variety of opinions is the spice of life right? I too like puppies and kittens.

I honestly believe they fit together better than any other pairing. That's not knocking; it's simply personal belief. Both are broken in their own ways, both have suffered tragedies in their lives, both keep so much of themselves to themselves, and both need love so much, whether that love is good old fashioned pron or manly hugs, slaps on the shoulder and "I love you man!" bromance. It's all good.
And that leads into my second reason. Those two are friends first. They don't come together because they just want to jump each others' bones--ahem--but because there's something more. These two complement each other in so many ways.
Besides, to paraphrase Malcolm Reynolds, these two need to be together because they are...so...very...pretty!

My favorite moment - that's a tough one because every moment with them on screen is great. Two absolute favourites though: "We need to keep your heart-rate down!" and the whole bit about how Bones hasn't seen such a bad allergic reaction since med-school -- Bones frantic/worried about Jim just makes me melt. And the second is "Buckle up, Bones" - because if the fact that the very first person Jim addresses as Captain is Bones is proof of their epic importance to one another, then I don't know what is.
