In this escene Ewan Mcgregor went to the college she is in and bring the flower she loves x 200 or 300 in order to propose.
but she is already engaged. when the boyfriend see this she asked Ewan not to fight the boyfriend so Ewan received the beat of a lifetime without giving a punch and for most she asked the boyfriend to end the fight he never end it, so she broke the engagement and marry Ewan.
without the other fiance thing, i believe that Sarek knowing that you must give flowers to the woman you love in order to date or propose i think he will be this exagerated with the quatity of daffodil's no? and it is beautiful, and if i were Amanda i say Yes right away!
