I turned down a job I was offered in Lexington that would've started in January b/c they were going to make me observe a teacher at first, then have me teach some, then have her observe me teaching my own class. Um, nope. I'm not a student teacher, and that made me VERY uncomfortable! I prefer being a newbie with other newbies.
see, i'm torn about it. i didn't do student teaching, and i know that i benefited from observing different styles of classroom management, getting to know the kids, and learning a bit about how the school functions. i'm just wondering now if those benefits are offset by the exposure- i'm basically functioning as a lightning rod for criticism of the principal, as he went out on something of a limb in hiring me. it's a lot like a graduate program where professors attack each other's students as a way of damaging their advisors' reputations by proxy. not much fun. i wasn't expecting that part.
I've been thinking of calling you...eternal_unrestJune 22 2005, 19:38:13 UTC
but I wasn't sure what your sleep schedule was like lately (god forbid using cellular devices during daylight hours.) Sounds like my week of redefining the cult of domesticity has paled to yours. I'm interested in the computer update and the meetings with the lawyers, naturally. I also wonder when shots of the new 'do will be posted ;). I can send pics of baby hedgehogs (none of Vader yet) to cheer you up. *snuffle*
