I'm sorry about the computer, but damn you make me laugh! Flames? From a computer?! I've actually wondered if mine would do the same thing. It shuts off from overheating if I don't have a fan blowing on it.

it's surreal enough to be funny, but i was scared shitless yesterday. i'm really lucky to be alive- 30 seconds more sleeping and the house would have been on fire. i think the scariest thing about it was the noise that it made as it went up- sort of the roaring noise of logs catching, except that lithium-oxygen reactions are a bit more powerful than log-match reactions.
it's kind of amazing how things that are intended to burn (charcoal? logs?) take forever to light, and things that aren't (computers???) are toast instantly. funny.

apple does their best to placate me, so i don't sue them for nearly burning the house down and killing us. the people at the store said that they'd have a replacement computer for me soon, which i pointed out was not a very attractive offer given the previous model's mechanical homicide attempt.

so. yeah. i don't know what happens. i hear back monday or tuesday. no major burns- i'm lucky i didn't lose an eye when the fucking thing exploded. this may have been the most surreal thing to happen to me in the past year, and that's saying a lot.

tomorrow, i will cut it. today, i just look like i have a selective case of mange or a sadistic toddler with access to a blowtorch.

yeah. i'm going to have short hair for the first time in...12 years? i was agonizing over cutting it for school (was actually leaning towards it anyway), but this settles the debate rather convincingly.

i'd say that they owe me some tongue action, too.

it pains me to be in this situation with apple, a company that i actually like and respect- but i make a point of not owning stuff from companies i don't, and this is the first time that an issue like this has come up, thankfully.
