Probably Orions. And it's probably perfectly logical, as well. They probably also consider things that make people emotional unlucky. Like novels. And gardens. And kink memes. And, while we're on the topic, sexual organs. They probably consider sexual organs unlucky.

Well, I was thinking of some pairings I've never seen, and I came up with Scotty/Spock.
So...
Scotty/Spock. Never seen it before, and although this pairing seems cracky, it's also cute in a way <3
I don't have any specifications (did I spell that right? D:) just preferably something fflluuffyy.

Nero is a mob boss and Kirk is a cop (assigned by Pike) to get into Nero's orginzation and get information that can put Nero in prison for a long time.

The first person Kirk manages to get close to is Nero (and his gang's)personal doctor.

He soon finds out that McCoy doesn't want to work for Nero, but Nero is somehow using threats against Joanna to force him to.

Eventually, Kirk tells McCoy the truth about what he's doing and they agree to work together to bring Nero down.

Of course, this all results in a beloved Kirk/McCoy pairing.

Bonus? If Scotty runs a rival gang, but isn't as ruthless as Nero - make Scotty the Robin Hood of mobsters and Spock is Scotty's right hand man and Uhura is Spock's girlfriend.

Sulu can be the reporter, trying to get the scoop and Chekov his eager sidekick.

How anyone else is worked in, anon can decide.

OKAY so this is on my mind now and I KIND OF REALLY WANT TO SEE IT. Let's say when Leonard McCoy was a young resident (22 or 23), he contracted some sort of virus that caused him to lose his sight. He wasn't able to finish medical school, and the stress of rehabilitation, and suddenly having to readjust all his priorities in life, made him withdraw for a while as he learned to deal with being blind. He never met Jocelyn, didn't get married, and basically didn't do much of anything for quite a while. He's 28, now, and slowly getting his life back on track; he gets a job doing reception at a small clinic in Iowa, and he's got the whole job memorized so that he knows exactly what he's doing. One day, in strolls Jim, and TOUCHING AND HILARIOUS SHENANIGANS ENSUE as they get to know each other, and Jim works Bones out of his cranky, bitter shell.

Also, bonus if Bones gets to use a line from Chris Pine's film Blind Dating: "Can't you see that I'm fucking blind?!"
