Treasure hunter finds 11th century gold ring with rare black diamond in muddy field

And it has a nice photo of the ring, too. I can't wait to see reproductions of this one, tho I wonder how they would reproduce the black diamond.

They are lab creating black diamonds now I hear so a repro shouldn't be too hard

Sweet! From what I have seen, when most recreate black diamonds they use highly polished onyx. This dulls after awhile, but the effect is decent.

oooooooh I want it! You can get black diamonds fairly easily these days - Tiffany did a lineof them a few years back so they're semi-popular again. :-)

Now, which jeweler do I call for the carving....
