Future Costume Focusing...

I am frustrated. I want to do more SCA or other costuming type of events. I want to dress nicely, not just in basic "camping" outfits. But... big but here, most of the kind of events I would rather enjoy, such as A&S competitions, or Collegiums, or Cons (gaming or otherwise), or even pretty dress up events, are going to be in places far, far away. But I think some of my "everyday" stuff will be based on historical styles...

Maybe vintage (New Era) styles? I've seen a lot of the 1950's shirt dresses come back into style but are still very lovely. They are pretty easy to jazz up with just some pearl buttons too....

I had noticed at CoCo that the 30's, 40's and 50's styles are still around in some form or another today, and they look cute. I need to do some looking around on various sites to see what I might like to wear, perked up a bit for today, and for my own decorative design ideas.

Some time in the next few years, it might be possible to take the whole family to a game con as well. DunDraCon has a kids' room with games for kids of many ages. I don't think DunDraCon has a masquerade or costume contest, but they do have non-WWGS LARPs. It might also be cool to have the lot of us go to something like that in something almost uniform. It would make it easy to identify the kids and might add to some gaming events.
