Well, (*(&^(&^. Seems someone else grabbed that great deal of a book before I did, so I got a refund notice instead of the book.

Ah well, the hunt continues.

I own it. Is there anything in particular you need from it?

I am going off of memory here. There is an image of a man and woman kneeling (at prayer?) but facing mostly ahead, part of a triptych maybe? They are in early Tudor style and she has an early style hood, early in the century (tho' it may have been tail end of 15th century). The woman's gown is a large brocade pattern. I need a copy or scan of that image, if you can assist. Thank you.

Unfortunately, the only MS reproduced in the book is the famous one showing Henry VIII and his fool, Will Kemp. The one you're looking for isn't in this one. It might be in the end of the more larger 15th century book, also by Jane Ashelford, which has been out of print even longer than the 16th century volume.

And I happened to leaf through the entire book just now-- and indeed, with the exception of maybe two or three plates, all of the color plates and black and white plates (mostly in color instead of black and white) are now available on the internet.

You probably have already looked, but have you run by www.elizabethan-portraits.com lately? He lost the domain for tudor-portraits.com and renamed the site. He's got more portraits up now than he did before the site went down...

Thank you for looking. It then is in a different book, and was covered in the overall Visual History book, which is also expensive and hard to get.

And yes, I have looked at the elizabethan portraits site, and it isn't there, since it is earlier than the person goes for. His earlier ones tend to German.

Thanks again for letting me know. Now I can focus on getting the other book somehow.
