I am upset with myself right now. A jar of pickles leaked in a bag of mine, that held my Tudor Tailor book, 50 Buttons book, and two Tudor Tailor patterns. Both books are signed copies. Thankfully, the TT book is only minimally wet in the corners, no major damage. The 50 Buttons book is more damaged, but should recover with some wrinkles to the ( Read more... )

As I recall, the TT patterns are printed on waxy paper like Burda patterns are (are they still? ) so they should be fine, once they dry out. Except for the pickle smell.

Yeah, they are just fine, even the instructions (on plain paper) are just a bit wrinkled and yellowish. But the patterns are really nice and dry, and not a smell on them. Whew!

The books look ok, if a bit wrinkled and smelling of pickles. The patterns are just fine, although the instruction pages are a bit wrinkled and smelly. The coverings are trashed, and I will put the patterns into zip lock baggies from now on.

So sorry to hear that. I hope they dry and the smell fades. I was always curious if they really were gin-and-tonic proof as the website describes them.

Well, they are definitely pickle juice proof! Not a wrinkle or even a smell on them. The instructions are on plain paper, and they are a little wrinkled and smelling of pickles. The outer package got the worst of it, and I will throw those away and store the rest in zip lock baggies.

it's not fun until you've leaked massage oil on several costume books - turning the edge of it pink! That was a mess.....Hopefully it'll dry better than the oil has.

oh, no. Sorry about the oil. Yeah, the books are ok, if a bit smelly, and the patterns were fine, even as their coverings were trashed. Zip locks for those from now on, especially when travelling.
