I am happy, even tho my fingers are very sore. I am working on my client's Tudor jacket with skirt, using the rolled pleats. ( more costuming info behind the cut... )
Thanks! That giornea looks great. I will share that with a friend who wants to make one for himself.
I tried a similar method with the gored skirt panels, tiny darts/pleats, and tapes to hold the pleats for my husband's Henrician jacket skirt a few years ago. I had the same problems you did, and I see that indeed it is the padded/quilted fabric that is needed to keep those pleats near perfect. I may take his skirt apart and see if adding the padding will help his skirt.
I forgot to mention, they had a big special on the Style network over the weekend, taking historical tudor style and modern versions. Of course it was tied into the Tudors show on Showtime...perhaps it will replay?
Did you enjoy the show? That was the one I was helping with, and they sent me a copy of it for having used five of my photos (none of me, tho, as I wasn't comfortable with sending in what I have of me).
And it will replay on both Style network, and on Showtime, and SHO on Demand for a bit. It may even get to a different network, although I forget which one MJ mentioned.
I did enjoy it - was hoping to get a glimpse of someone I knew! :) I think they had a shot of your friend who played Queen Elizabeth at southern faire...
Oh? I don't recall seeing Gaye Linn. I will have to do a double check. I do recall seeing a number of redheads, including a few of another woman who sometimes plays the Queen locally.
