Why didn't I think of this sooner.

Hehehe... I just ordered the Six Wives of Henry VIII on VHS from the local library. Finally, I will get to see this movie set I've heard so much about. If I enjoy it as much as I enjoyed Elizabeth R, I may order the DVD version, even if it does have the BBC's version of the dreaded The Other Boleyn Girl as a bonus feature ( Read more... )

movie, tudor

I don't get showtime, but I might get it in time to see The Tudors. Or I may just wait for the movie to get to DVD.

I've heard more good than bad for this old movie, so I am willing to give it a shot since I can do so for free. If it is worth getting, I will, if not, then at least I've seen it once.

But I will admit, its more for the costumes than the storyline.

The first movie was from Great Britain, and I don't know much more about it.

I do not like her books, as I am not into romance novels, which is more her style. I tried to read one of the series, and was just put off by the bad history details.

And we've been discussing the movie on a historical costuming ml, and from certain takes found in the online script about Henry raping Anne, and the cheesy costuming that we have yet to figure out what was the inspiration, on top of the romance bodice-ripper angle, I am not looking forward to the movie. I may rent it later, maybe, but not in the theatre. And that really is a shame, since Henry and Anne's story is so very interesting all on its own.

Oh, you're going to like those. Much better than that *thing* that PBS did a year or so ago. :-( I thought that ll the wives were good; and the costuming was *stellar*

I was hoping to get them for Christmas, but it didn't happen. There's always next year! :-)

Yeah. You should see the list that I have for either Graduation or My First Real Paycheck. Shuette's "History of Embroidery" is top on the list!
