That is why every vote counts, and hence people should vote as wisely as possible. And all will have to live with the results.

GY was a little unlucky to be in the wrong place.

Unfortunately, George Yeo was just a pawn in this whole electoral battle. His popularity and ability as a foreign minister was used to up the stakes in the game to counter the perceived threat by the Worker's Party. Eventually, both Cynthia Phua and Lim Hwee Hua dragged him down.

Interesting to note that Lim Hwee Hwa was one of the highest paid in the former cabinet, and yet could not pull her weight during the elections.

Anyway, let's see what role he is given after all this. I was thinking the UN Ambassador, even though it is kind of a demotion of sorts.

As he (GY) had said right after the GE results announcement on Aljunied, "That's life."
I am touched that he accepted the outcome calmly.
I am sure Yam Ah Yee did not find it that easy to announce the Aljunied result, hahaha.

If the government is serious about not losing this (real) talent, they will find a way.

Well, he has already announced that he's retiring from politics and will not contest in the next general elections. I think the ambassador job would be a good one for him, although I am not sure if he wants to do it.
