I'm not really into those 'who's stronger' debates, so I have no idea... If it were me I'd probably die trying to save them all. ^^;;

Yay livejournal is working! Let me tackle this...

I would actually save Gohan and Trunks. Yep, Gohan has gotten a whole lot weaker but I really do think that if Trunks and Goten were together they would get distracted and wouldn't take the fight very seriously. Gohan would. Also, we've seen what Gohan can do when he gets pissed off. Take the planet away and kill everyone; what amazing power would Gohan unleash?? He has a girlfriend now, I'm sure he'd be epic!

And as for Trunks, he's stronger then Goten so that could help. Also, like I said, he wouldn't be so distracted with Goten not around. I really think if he focused he could hold is own. If not, he could serve the same purpose as Gohan did for most of DBZ: be there for moral support and for any extra hand that Vegeta and I need. If Trunks were to witness a *real* fight I honestly think something would've awoken some sort of power. He just never got the chance.

I'd pick Gohan and Goten actually! And my reasoning is pretty stupid and mean.

I really think that Trunks would hold Vegeta back. I'm sure Vegeta would want to protect him over defeating Buu. Would Goku have that problem?....not really. And I like partytimexelent's argument that Gohan probably has a lot more power stored in him that hasn't been brought out yet.

I'm so mean =/

This is horrible and totally true. =( Sigh, Goku, why are you so infuriating? I don't think you're mean. I think Goku's messed up. Which is why I like him but, still, infuriating.

I don't feel like I can really answer this question because I'd get caught up in raeging about children saving the world (and even Gohan is still a child), but from a cold logic standpoint I think your reasoning makes the most sense. Goku thinks about his family in terms of their power levels, and we've seen that he has no problem whatsoever throwing his babies at the world's most terrifying monsters for funzies. With that in mind, maybe not getting picked in this scenario is better in the end. Death is a moderate inconvenience at worst in DBZ and quite obviously not all that bad, and Gohan so doesn't need any more Daddy Issues. =(

HA! Yeah he really is.

Goku's biggest problem, even in Dragonball, has always been his naivety. Goku's American voice actor Sean Schemmel said so himself during an interview, and how that naivety can really hurt him.

To be honest though, I think after Gohan's fight with Cell, when Piccolo pretty much smacks Goku over the head and says Gohan doesn't want to be a fighter, Goku now realizes everyone doesn't have the blood lust to fight like he and Vegeta do. Fighting alongside his family would be a bit different this time around... I think :)

(I love this conversation so much. :D)

He does have a lowest-common-denominator mindset that gets him in trouble a lot -- and ironically also often drags out fights for funzies. You'd think somebody that simplistic would be able to use Occam's Razor, like, at all. That's why I think that at the root of the naivete is attachment problems. A lot of people are naive, but most of them don't have that disturbing-if-you-think-too-hard-about-it nondiscrimination in how they treat other people.

I'm not sure he gets it, is the thing. There was still so much fail in Cell-era even after Piccolo's lecture, from his passive-aggressive goodbye to Gohan during the fight to his "nm actually I wanna stay dead and I'm not going to bother telling you that this isn't your fault." And I think when Gohan did explode just as Goku had predicted, Goku took that as validation of his actions. It's always bugged me to no end that not even Piccolo hammered home the point of "Your gamble paying off doesn't make your attitude here okay." And Goku's final ( ... )
