To avoid confusion, I thought it was best to lay out the guidelines/rules here:
All e-mails sent must have the e-mail code. This code is on the IC community profile page. Copypaste. Remove the ( ).
The subject of the post/comment should contain [E-Mail] and priority level.
(It's not the end of the world if the subject of the comments does not have the [E-Mail] and priority level, but the post have to!)
When adding the e-mail address you MUST put a space between the address and the < > or the HTML code will die.
When writing an e-mail to all employees (or doing an open log) please tag with the 'all employees' tag. Do not tag anyone else, even if they reply.
Also, very important: YOU CANNOT SEE OTHER PEOPLES E-MAILS IC UNLESS SENT TO YOU.
It's not like you can read e-mails sent by others in real life, after all.
Unless you're a hacker.
NOTE HOWEVER THAT HACKING MAILS AND JOURNALS IS ILLEGAL IC.
The company would fire your character if they found out. So if your character DOES hack things, do not mention it. (It would leave you in a world of trouble.)
Those who have the abilities to hack e-mails and private journal entries in journals are the techies and the Kurotsuchi's. (And perhaps a few others - ASK first.)
Logs cannot be hacked since those are not really posted anywhere IC - it's what happens around here.
Also, if you want to send an e-mail to a character, please start a new post and use that post to e-mail back and forth between those characters ABOUT that subject. (New subjects/issue/day, new post)
As for logs, logs must contain the log code, also found on the profile page. Copypaste. Remove the ( ).
The subject of the post should contain [Log] title of the log and (Status - Complete/Incomplete). It's the person that starts the log (making the post) that is responsible to later change the incomplete to complete when the log is finished.
Comments to the post does not need the code.
Logs or e-mails over 300 words should be under lj-cut.
Code for lj-cut in case you feel lazy is ALSO on the profile page.
As for tagging e-mails and logs, all characters should be in the tag list. (Family name first).
If you do an open log, only tag your own character and then use the 'all employees' tag. Those who join must tag themselves.
If it is a closed log between characters, add all characters involved.
This is so that both you and others can easily find things done by that character.
Replying to a log should be done via 'post new comment' and NOT a reply to the former comment. This is to avoid cheating (see rules) and that the log page breaks.
E-mails should be done the same way, unless it's a 'to all employees'. Then all replies to the first mail (by a new character) should be 'post new comment' and replies to THAT should be 'reply'. (As seen
here)
