Yes, I know. They take oxygen to the brain. But you don't usually equate "applying pressure to the carotid arteries" as choking someone. You'd think of the windpipe and damage there.
Interesting (to me) story. My granddaddy once had 95%+ blockage in both of his carotid arteries. The doctor looked at him and was astounded, asking how he's still alive. Granddaddy was 89 at the time (I think, somewhere in there) and the doc usually doesn't do surgery like that on someone that age, but because he was otherwise in perfect health, the doc put the little stints in. Now he's 96 and just now getting around to getting dentures ... he's a hilarious, cranky old man.
reading that made me sick. no amount of apologizing can ever right that situation, in my mind. there is no doubt in my mind that he abused her long before this - guys don't just spontaneously beat women. its a process that starts with verbal abuse. good for her for trying to rip his eyes out.
