Ah Bunco! belli486 February 24 2010, 16:20:11 UTC
Fun times ahead in Shug's household, but not before all the preparations are done. I really think it's good for you to take a break away from the fandom, too. You deserve some "you" time. hahaha I do simple party things like coctail sausages in bbq sauce and rotel dip with tortillas. I'm a simple woman.

Have fun. TLC is still fail anyway, so probably no chance of bugging you before the weekend anyway :)

Party went well. Had a great time, but I'm glad it's over! LOL *squishes*

Hope TLC has been less stressful for you!

The spinach dip recipe is excellent. I make it with a whole wheat boule rather than a sourdough round, but either is excellent.

Oh, and I second Pokey on the green onions and water chestnuts... they're essential.

Bunco was fun. Now exhausted. LOL

Mmm. Spinach dip. And those artichoke tarts sound wonderful! I am going to make those soon -- my son LOVES artichokes.

Costco turned out to be God send. I didn't have time to cook too much. LOL <3 Costco.

Thanks for the recipes, hon!!

Here's an incredibly simple finger food that people seem to love when I make it:

Annie's Mexican Bruschetta

Ingredients:

1 loaf of French bread
1 jar mild or medium salsa (your preference), strained
olive oil
fresh basil (garnish)

Do Ahead:

Slice bread into 1/2" rounds and arrange on very lightly greased cookie sheet.

Brush tops lightly with olive oil.

Strain salsa so that it's moist but not dripping.

Rinse and drain basil.

Immediately Before Serving:

Toast the bread rounds under broiler.
Remove from oven and arrange on plate.
Scoop one soup spoon full of salsa onto each round.
Garnish plate with fresh basil.

Try it! See if you like it!

I second Trader Joe's frozen appetizers, which are uniformly good. Apple slices and store-bought caramel dip always go over well. Also, pre-made things like cheese trays, bakery cookies, and the like don't look pre-made if you move them to your own trays and dishes. If you want to appear fancy, purchase pre-made sugar cookies and ice them with pretty designs!

I headed over to Costco when I realized I didn't have time to cook. LOL Yay for Costco! Woot!

Check out my recipe tag, I tend to post quick and easy recipes - including those good for parties.

Off the top of my head, I'd say go for the Ricotta Pepperoni dip in this post, the breadsticks here, anything from this party post, these canapes I use ALL the time....

There's many more dips on there too.
