It's an admirable effort and leagues better than the Melee Adventure Mode, but alas too many of the smaller things are generic (background areas, enemies), the Great Maze was an exercise in redundancy and didn't feel new at all, especially since you had to gun down 31 bosses you've already fought. And none of the platforming was really challenging either.
I did dig the story and the bosses though. Just wish the endgame was newer.
The actual Subspace Emissary? 5/10 It was a valiant effort, but it could have been so much better. The repetitive levels got really tiring. And getting trophies of the baddies? Ugh, don't get me started.
As for the cutscenes? 10/10 The cinemas were fantastic and almost made playing through the Subspace Emissary worth it. I say almost because the ending was really lame. Sonic just shows up out of nowhere, they kill Tabuu, and stand on a cliff and watch the sunrise? Could have been a much better ending.
