Due to Japan's rather unique state of existence in  Super Robot Wars Unlimited Generation Alpha, and by that we, the mod team mean "a smoldering crater", we thought it would be important to clear up a few details.

Specifically, aside from Tokyo-3, the Japanese mainland is absolutely devestated and unable to support life.  Yes there are Sakuradite

What exactly is it that stops people from resettling the mainland? Radiation? Monsters?

Complete inability to support life for numerous reasons. The Festum have outright destroyed parts of the country considering their primary means of physical combat is using black holes.

On top of that, there's Second Impact to take into consideration. The radiation from all the fighting and HALO's rampage pretty much finished what the Festum started. There's not one place on the entire mainland you'll find people living, outside of Tokyo-3 which was founded after Second Impact. And the difficulties with keeping that one place running are evidence enough that rebuilding Japan is unfeasible now, in the immediate future, and in the centuries (and possibly even millenia) to come.
