Joshua is not present as the game begins: communications with San Francisco, his home, were lost early in the conflict.

For reasons she hasn't cared to divulge, when the White Chalice came though, Loraine Gloss made an inquiry as to whether they could use another doctor. She joined the crew without much fuss.

After a few months of traveling in his search for answers about the Zoid Eve, with little success and surviving a number of close calls, Van Flyheight encountered the White Chalice about to be attacked by bandits in stolen Zoids; after helping to subdue the enemies, he met the crew of the massive mobile base, and knowing a good cause to fight for when he hears one, he elects to join the fight for a peaceful world. Considering the White Chalice is traveling anyway, and Van has no clue where he's actually supposed to be going, he's hoping everything will work out okay.
