31st Bloom

[It had been awhile since Hana had been told the news about Mad - that she really was her sister. While it seemed that she took it in stride, there was a bit of her that doubted that Mad WAS her sister. For all she knew, the scientist could have forged it. Mad was friends with Clan Wolf, right? And since she's not too thrilled about the Desus, she ( Read more... )

[There's a familiar giggle from behind you, Hana.]

Not that we haven't all changed a little bit. Somehow, I don't think you mind most of it, though. [She sighs.] Not with what's at stake these days.

What are you going to do? About... this whole mess?

Yeah, I know that first-hand. But even so, time marches on, whether we're ready or not.

...I'm pretty sure Mad still doesn't trust me. She played a horrible prank on me the other day. And I fell for it like an idiot. [She shakes her head.] Resnick doesn't trust us either, I don't think. I'm doing what I can for both of those, but there's only so much we're going to be able to do without that proof I was talking about earlier. And if we're not careful, Mad and all of Clan Wolf are going to be our enemies. I don't like my odds in a Trial of Grievance against any of them.

...don't worry, Sora. I won't let them hurt you or the rest of us. We shouldn't have to play by their rules just because they're aiding us.

But, we should just focus on regaining Mad's trust. We just need to let her know that what happened wasn't our fault and we just want to help her.

It's not a bad system. Once a Trial of Grievance is finished, its decision is binding for the whole Clan - if it does come up and we somehow win, they can't retaliate, or the hammer comes down. Of course, there are equally bad consequences if we lose.

But... yeah. Mad first. Other problems later. The real issue, though... we don't actually know what's going on here. We're as in the dark as she is. So if we try and fix things before we have all the information... we're going to get burned here. I want to help her, but this is a bad place for us.

I think the only way we're going to solve this, though, is if we can get Grandma here, since she'd know what's been going on.

Hopefully.

Either her or Himura, and I don't know if she's going to be well enough to travel, so... yeah. Professor Himesaki is, one way or another, going to be what makes or breaks us.

...I don't think I've ever dreaded seeing the Professor before now. It's not a good feeling.

Grandma'll fix things. I know she will. We should have faith in her...

Nothing specifically against her, but I'm just a little low on faith right now. Then again, she's all we've got... well, I'll have to trust her to have the answers, I guess.
