Couldn't be closer. Fortunately very few people were in the hangar when the beam struck, and those who were already had a lot of experience dodging giant robots toppling over.
The Wolves, especially the massive elementals in their armor, are quick to lend what assistance they can with the heavy lifting. Resnick reluctantly follows in his timber wolf, not wanting to be see to be not helping out, and silently cursing that he had hand actuators installed. He crouches the machine and jumps down when the heavy lifting is done.
"Aff. I knew this would happen someday. An attack would jam our bay doors and leave most of us unable to deploy. But did command listen? Neg."
"The Tower has several emergency exits to the hangar for exactly this sort of situation, but it's at the cost of structural integrity. The White Chalice is one of the sturdiest ships I've ever seen. It's a trade-off, I guess."
"Sturdiness is nothing if one shot takes out our only means of attack. If they do not want to add another door they could at least install some naval class weapons."
