[Chrono bites out a laugh; Cheng will find him in the infirmary, still under orders not to move.] That's a little bit of an understatement. The Bureau's record against deities is a losing one.

But... I'll live. I don't regret anything I did out there, Cheng. But then, I'm a career soldier, and a leader at that. I may be fourteen, but I chose this lifestyle. [The boy gestures at the burns visible on his arms.] I'm not going to let something like this get me down.

I hope so. I think my father would feel the same way, seeing all this... the artifact we're hunting, the Book of Darkness, is what ultimately killed him. This case, everything we're doing down here, it's all personal to me. I don't want to give anything less than my very best.

...I worry about Nanoha and Fate, though. They're not built for this. Nanoha was an ordinary student a year ago. Now she's fighting to save the entire Earth Sphere. Fate's story isn't mine to share, but in some ways she's even worse off. And yet... they're both so strong. I would be lying if I said they aren't vital assets to this operation, to the entire Bureau, and that scares me. I'm just wondering how they'll take all this.

And.. do not worry too much about them. They've done more than any of us would have ever expected.

[Cheng started this wall off as a memorial for those who died during the Chalice's travels - who's deaths left an impact upon the lives of those aboard. Though he doesn't say anything to Flynn's faux pas... if anything, those names were just as welcome as any other - so no one would ever forget them.]

I'm on pain killers and the doctors said I won't be able to walk for two weeks due to my ankle. Besides that, I guess I'm okay.
