[Kou knew that the GP-01 couldn't handle the rigors of space - the fight with those monsters proved that. Yet, bold headed as he was, he ran out there, intending on fighting.
And getting his ass kicked. The grasshoppers were easily dodging his beam rifle shots and were mercilessly smashing him to bits.]
GAH! Back off! [More beams are fired, only to miss and letting Kou get smashed with another tackle attack.]
[One of the charging grasshoppers suddenly finds itself face-to-face with a beam of green energy. And explodes.]
Nice aiming there 8! Don't worry Kou, we got your back.
[Astray Red Frame to the rescue! Beam rifle wielded in one hand, Gerbera Straight in the other - pieces of small robots stuck to the blade like some kind of grasshopper kabob.]
[Kou's able to pull away from a missile barrage, only for some of the missiles to hit the Unit One's leg, damaging it. Even with Gundanium, it's not going to hold out for too much longer.]
Damn! Your Gundam isn't good for space combat at all, is it!
[Lowe moves to the front, his blade raised in a high reverse grip. Whatever Grasshopper wants a piece of mobile suit pie will have to get through a sword that can block missiles AND beams first!]
[One of the attacking Grasshoppers is caught by a green plasma lasso! It's gettting reeled in quickly, down to Prometheus waiting with a drill lance to impale the lil' bugger.]
When will whoever sends this robots learn that they're just wasting resources that way?
I'm sure they wouldn't attack if they knew what they're interrupting.
[More Grasshopers move in and fire their machineguns. Prometheus is fast too, though - Werter dodges quickly and then kicks one of them into the others, like a plasma-covered explosive soccer ball.]
Kensuke moves quickly to follow Kamille instructions with out question. This was a a war man, there we no time for questions! As another bogey exploded, Kensuke cheered a little.
"Nice assist Kamille! That was awesome!" Kensuke would have asked for a high five, but this wasn't the place. He put it on his list of things to do when that battle was over.
[And Samus is there, in her gunship. It's not the most powerful thing in its weight class at all, but a quite tough set of shields and plating plus a preternaturally quick-reacting bounty hunter at the helm means that the grasshoppers, try as they might, do not really manage to do anything more than scratch the paint with grazing shots.
Therefore, Samus is entirely relaxed and basically taking this as practice. She's trying a few strange maneuvers that came to mind to see how they work.
She zooms at top speed past a group of them - and the machines seem to entirely unbalance themselves and get sent spinning, as if the passing ship had pulled them in passing. In the meantime, Samus has gone a fair distance away and turns sharply, her railguns efficiently riddling one of them with holes from afar]
Spreading the grapple beam reduces its ability to hold. Maybe speed. Computer, record next pass. [The bounty hunter states to herself rather matter of factly, getting ready for another swoop]
[Now that the Slava was once again at full capacity, Vlaska has taken it out on it's first true space sortie. In a strange demented way you could imagine it being a cat playing with actual grasshoppers. Only with lasers and death and razor sharp claws involved.
In an odd way Vlaska saw this as play as well, rather than an actual battle.]

[Says the pot to the kettle.]
They should attack us themselves instead of sending these drones all of the time.
