The mission "Rising Wind in the Homeland" was completed successfully, though not without heavy civilian casualties.

Summary
The EDF was sent to intercept a convey under protection of the ZAFT force Desert Tiger. After engaging Desert Tiger, they managed to stop the convey, but not before Duo Maxwell was injured by an attack from Gauron using the Lambda Driver.
With aid from the Desert Dawn, a rebellion against the Desert Tiger, the EDF forces managed to extricate Duo and procure the necessary medication, but in retaliation Desert Tiger wiped out a village of Desert Dawn sympathizers. While Andrew Waltfeld had intended to spare the lives of the civillians, Gauron intervened and mowed them down.
Moving towards a final battle, the Hagane fought the Lesseps in the middle of the desert. Gauron was confronted by and destroyed by Sergent Sagara, while Kira managed bring down Andrew in his LaGOWE, though not before the Hagane received heavy damage.

Additional Notes:
Duo suffered some injuries that he aggravated by going out and fighting in spite of, and will require extended bedrest to fully recover. He will not be available for the next mission.
Shiro is MIA again. He'll be back. Eventually.
The Hagane received heavy damage. While it can fly, it will not be combat ready for the next mission.
