Poor Xander; even when he becomes immortal, it seems like he can't catch a break.

Love it!
Thank you for taking the concept and running with it.

Love this bit:
Giles responded by throwing water on Xander.

Xander blinked the water out of his eyes. “Did you just throw holy water on me?”

“Yes, well, it didn’t have an effect, which means that Willow’s been crying in my office for the past hour needlessly.”

Funny, in-character, and logical. I saw at least one much-earlier story (pretty sure I told you about it) where Xander kept his Immortal status secret from everyone, for reasons I can’t remember. That one had its own atmosphere and opened a distinct set of possibilities; however, it also makes sense for him to learn about his status from Giles, because where else would he go to find out?

And the wrap-up … yep, Xander is the guy who deals with whatever comes to him. He’ll deal with this, and use his new advantages the way he’s always used everything else: to help Buffy, to give what he has to the common fight. Immortal Xander is still Xander, and this is what Xander does.

This Genre Of Crossover Takes Me Back. . . eilandesq December 27 2019, 22:31:45 UTC
My first fanfic ever was "Eternal Slayer," which had Duncan MacLeod passing through Sunnydale, after which wackiness ensued which revealed that a prior Slayer had become Immortal, leading to a centuries long hellish existence for that Slayer. Highlander/Buffyverse crossovers were quite popular at that time, and Xander was often the designated Scooby to become immortal. So aside from this being a fun little story in its own right, I was pleased by the nostalgic moment it occasioned.

Cheers,

Scott
