Rabbit, Run

Has anyone read anything by John Updike? He died yesterday. This means I can finally read his fiction. I'm not sure where to start though -- or whether I should at all. I'm considering starting with his well-known, "Rabbit, Run", a story about Harry Angstrom who is in a perpetual state of thanatos -- repeatedly attempting escape from his own ( Read more... )

I knew you'd feel the same way as I, about that part. I will indeed write a review. It may be a while before I get to the book though -- I have another book in between.

I'll mention 2 novels. The first is Terrorist, about an American Muslim teenager in New Jersey. This may be interesting because it was written before 9/11.

The second is Roger's Version about some people trying to prove the existence of God. Tina read it and showed some passages where the narrative style revealed the protagonist's way of thinking, rather than just reporting the thoughts. It was interesting enough that I remember it 7 years later.
