Anyone have suggestions on light therapy lights?

Even just 'what to google for to find reasonable instances and reviews'? I'm thinking of the SAD-countering lights. We're wondering if getting one for iraunink might help with her ambition levels in the winter.

Recommendations - pro and con! - are definitely welcome!

The key thing is 10,000 lux. I've used a lightbox with old-school fluorescent lights for years, but the Mayo Clinic site says LEDs appear to work just as well. I wouldn't worry about trying to replicate daylight. Just go for 10,000 lux.

If you have questions I might answer, I'll be glad to help. Send me a private message in LJ and I'll give you my email if you need it.

Here's the Mayo link, fwiw...

Best site to purchase: http://www.lighttherapyproducts.com/

I have the SunSquare+ and it's awesome. Remember, the brighter the light, the further away you can sit and still get good effects. LED is a newer technology that I've not tried much and the visors show promise. Read the literature on the topic.

Also consider a dawn simulator to make waking up easier.

Remember that light and vitamin D help, but exercise + regular schedule helps a lot more. For me, the light and the vitamin D make it easier for me to maintain a regular schedule and to include exercise. Thinking that adding light means you can skimp on the others is a recipe for expensive disaster.

I totally agree with this, to my own astonishment. I've only been doing the exercise three years now, but it helps at least as much as the light.
