I find that, in addition to cartoons, Harry Potter references also work well.

Or compare it to "real" life- "Hey remember that time your girlfriend was late?"

That conversation is splendidly amazing, and also: YAY A POST YOU HAVE MADE THAT I CAN COMMENT ON AS IT IS NOT IN REGARD TO A FANDOM THAT I AM TOTALLY CLUELESS ABOUT! (. .. I think I just made real life into a fandom. orz)

I think that, someday, we will look back at certain LJ entries about stories from our daily lives and be like, "WTF is my life?" And love ourselves more. Or something.

Ha, yeah, I'm in the Navy. I joined up over a year ago, and so far, I really like my job. What do you want to do in the Navy? That'll impact the places you can go, length of time in service, etc.

Either a CTI or CTN, though I've hit a roadblock due to medical issues that I'm still fighting MEPS over.

Are you in the CTI program? Your last post mentioned "Chinese Immersion". (I'm actually a native Cantonese speaker trying to learn Mandarin. So I took a study abroad to China last July. The class and faculty played tourist in 3 cities for the first week, then dormmed at Shanghai's Fudan University.)
