About postmodernism... and really any other theory. If a theory appears to have no practical application by which it can be tested, what is the point to begin with? Through our experiences, we can discover and verify ideas. There is no other way to determine the truthfulness of them. That's the view I take on it.
And thanks for the bit about human nature being consistant... That's a helpful point considering what I'm writing.

You already have a keen existentialist mind (that's a compliment, I hope you know). I can't command but I can BEG you to read Quantum Psychology when you're done with Prometheus Rising. Both of those are exactly the kinds of books you're talking about: good self help that IS applicable, that advances you further rather than leaving you contemplating your naval. And since the chaois mages are embracing things like quantum mechanics, chaos math, cognitive sciences and...I hear even dark matter theories...the cutting edge of physics and neuroscience, that book is all the more appropriate.
Oh, and...Freakonomics is a pretty damned good book on that level too, even though that's not a Wilson book.
