My sister asked me this earlier today and I have no idea what the answer is. I've tried a few places to find out, asked a few people and the result...three different answers. The question...Why is David Wenham called "Daisy"? Anybody know or know where I can find out?? Thanks in advance for helping.

I heard something about this earlier.....Something about the guys from LOTR nicknamed him that. I'll have to check my website again cuz I think I put it on there.

Sorry I couldn't find anything else other than the guys of LOTR gave him that nickname. :(

'Daisy' goes back much further than LotR. His older sisters called him that from when he was a little boy. There's a longer explanation somewhere (an interview that I don't remember right now where I read it), how it grew out of Dave ... Davie ... Daisy ... something like that.

It's an Aussie thing...giving nicknames with a touch of irony...for instance, someone with red hair is likely to be called Blue or bluey, someone short would be called Lofty and a tall person would be Shorty. Calling someone so obviously masculine by such an effeminate nickname follows along those lines. It would be Daisy because it follows from Davie etc as myth adventure said.

Didn't Hugh call him Daisy when they were filming Van Helsing as well. So if he did then it does go back further than LOTR. Thanks ladies for clarifying

That is a cool nickname tradition. It makes sense that you could get Daisy from Davie...thanks.
